ADSL Support

Pre Installation Checks

  1. Make sure you have an ADSL Modem. A normal 56k modem will not work as ADSL uses completely different technology. If you are ordering ADSL2 then an ADSL modem that supports ADSL2 must be used as they are not backward compatable. There are many brands of ADSL modems that work on Australian exchanges. We have had sucess with Netgear, Draytek, Dlink, Billion and Dynalink but we do not reccomend one over another
  2. Make sure you have access to the telephone line on which the ADSL service was provisioned on. If you have two lines you can only use the the line on which ADSL has been configured. Make sure your modem is supplied with cables
  3. Most ADSL Modems come with Line Filters, if not you will most likely have to purchase one seperatelly. You will need to put phone line filters on every telephone device (phone, fax, etc.) you have plugged into any outlet, except for your ADSL modem. You must have a phone line filter on every telephone device.
  4. Next, your ADSL Modem will need to connect to you computer. Depending on what Modem you have purchased this is achieved with
    1. Ethernet Cable
    2. USB Cable
    3. Wireless
  5. At this point you need to configure the modem. In most cases this is fairly straight forward and the only information you will need from Net Solutions is a username and password. The rest is automatically configured.

Manual Settings

Below are the basic settings for a modem to access ADSL and ADSL+ through Net Solutions. Normally, all you will need is your ADSL username and password and all the other information will be automatically picked up by your modem during the syncronisation process. If you need to manually enter these details they are listed below

Mail

The settings below are applicable to Net Solutions ADSL and Broadband and Dialup services only. If you have an ADSL or Broadband service with another provider, these settings will not work. For your username please use your full email address. Do not use and encrypted connection. All usernames and passwords are case sinsitive.
